Despite a forecast of rain in the morning and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon 31 members and guests came for UFO Day at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome on July 13. Our own Bill King gave a private tour of 3 hangars full of very old airplanes and then through the main Museum building.
His son David flew his father’s de Havilland Tiger Moth in the airshow and also flew one of the only two original Bleriots in the world that are still flying. Fly-ins from Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pittsburgh and New Hampshire cancelled due to weather. But Jack and Betty Darst made it from Dayton, Ohio by flying in the night before.
It’s always a pleasure to see these very old planes but it’s a special treat and a real thrill to see them flying.
