2019 Pennsylvania UFO Meeting at KLNS

Apr 11, 2019 – Tom Johnston, the UFO Pennsylvania Area Representative, hosted a large meeting of members and guests from five different states at the Lancaster, PA airport (KLNS). Forty members and guests flew or drove in for the meeting and luncheon at Fiorentino’s Restaurant in the terminal building. Twelve aircraft flew in on a spectacular spring day, including Frank Rapp, our 97-year-old member and WW2 Navy pilot.

Bill Fili, a WW2 B-24 crewman was there to describe his wartime experiences, including being shot down and captured during a raid at the highly defended Ploesti oil fields in Rumania. Bill brought along and autographed copies of his interesting book, Passage to Valhalla, that described his experiences, including his rescue late in the war. Highly recommended reading, especially for the younger generations, who can learn what teen agers did during WW2.

John Sullivan, the UFO Mid Atlantic Regional Representative gave a short presentation on the UFO organization and expressed the need for volunteers to help keep the organization meaningful.

The meeting concluded with a very interesting tour and briefing at the Sensenich Propeller Facility. Everyone who attended learned a whole lot about propeller construction and maintenance. The many questions from our members indicated a surprising interest in the subject.
