This UFO meeting will take place rain or shine on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 9:30 AM until you’ve had enough. The plan is to operate on no particular schedule with one exception – the lobster feed around 1:00 PM. Members and guests may arrive at KRKD on their own schedule, via wings or wheels.  Arriving aircraft will park at the General Aviation Ramp near Penobscot Island Air and the airline terminal – Transient aircraft parking is only permitted on the main ramp area (northeast of runway 31/13, between taxiways A and B). Those driving to the event may park at the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum at 117 Museum St., or in the airport parking area near the terminal: https://www.knoxcountymaine.gov/index.asp

The idea of this annual Maine gathering of UFOs is to treat you to a world class museum featuring airplanes, automobiles and other delights. Check it out here: http://owlshead.org/ There is a fee to enter the museum – if there are more than 20 persons in our group then the fee is $9. Those parking airplanes at the terminal may take advantage of the museum’s shuttle. They will come and pick you up and deliver you to the museum. Penobscot Island Air has vans that will do likewise – it’s just under two miles on public roads around the airport. If you park at the museum, it will be a short drive from there to the Lobster feed. The location of this feast will be in a hangar at the airport with facilities. The feed will be arranged by: http://www.penobscotislandair.net/index.php

With no set schedule to consider, except the lobster dinner around 1:00 PM, UFOs and guests may arrive and depart at a time of their choice. Upon arrival in Owl’s Head, at your discretion proceed to the museum, either before or after dinner. The museum is open from 10:00AM until 5PM. You may tour it during any or all of those hours.

Mark the date!! Preregistration is required to be certain you’ll get lobster, plus that will give us an idea of how many we need. If you don’t care for lobster, there will be other types of seafood and food available. We’re working on it! But please preregister. We are aware that the weather can be a factor in arrivals and attendance, especially for aircraft, but we are having someone besides Bob Barker and Ray Gibouleau talking to the weather gods!
